In 1864, the Confederate Army retreated to Atlanta carrying with then two billion dollars in gold that was being used to fund the war. General William T. Sherman and his Union Soldiers were in hot pursuit to defeat the Southern Army and confiscate the gold for themselves. However, when General Robert E. Lee’s soldiers retreated further east, they did so without the gold. Gen. Sherman knew that the gold had been buried somewhere in the city, but in order to locate the treasure, he ordered his troops to burn the entire city to the ground. Nevertheless, they never found the gold…….Fast forward to 150 years later, present day, the treasure is finally located. Three men; a descendant of Gen. Joseph Johnston, who was in charge of burying the gold left behind a map of gold’s location. A Police Major, and a Civil War historian came up with a masterful plan on how to take the gold for themselves and vanish into thin air without anyone becoming wise to what was really going on. Why would they want to do that? Because the gold was buried underneath a police precinct that was occupied by cops twenty-four hours a day.
