To Live and Die for Dance

On June 12, 2011, in Teen Literature - Fiction, by Francine_Paino

Chelly Bernardi always dreamed of becoming a professional ballet dancer, while her parents expected their daughter to go to law school and eventually join the family law firm. Then she is accepted into the Romanova Ballet Conservatory run by Alexandra Romanova, a former star of the Kirov Ballet. Chelly pleads with her parents and they reluctantly allow her to study with the famous dancer.
At the ballet school, Chelly struggles to meet Romanova’s rigorous demands while coping with the jealousies of peers. Chelly seems to find her place with other like-minded dancers devoted to ballet, but trouble arises when she encounters the spirit of Alexandra’s murdered daughter, Natasha, who draws Chelly and her friends into danger by asking them to help reveal the identity of her murderer. At the same time, Chelly finds herself confronted by another dilemma: is her drive to dance built on passion or is it simply the remnant of a little girl’s dream of tutus and stardom?
