CREATING MADNESS
Terrorists launch an attack in the harbor of Galveston, Texas, where a “dirty” bomb is successfully detonated next to a container ship. The President and the head of Homeland Security push the terror alert to Red! The next day, the mayor of Los Angeles issues a mandate to find a contractor to develop and install a security system to protect the Southern California harbors. Two days later, Andre Petrov, the CEO of South Coast Alarm, receives the long overdue contract to safeguard the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Petrov and U.S. Coast Guard Commander Mike Greer oversee the installation of scientifically advanced security equipment as respect and friendship develop between the two.
At the completion of the first phase, Andre and Commander Greer invite a group of local VIP’s, including police and fire chiefs, to an open house where the unbelievable happens. Petrov’s new security system detects radioactivity being emitted by two suspicious boats entering L.A. Harbor. His guests alert their respective agencies, while Andre employs an untried electromagnetic laser to disable both boats by frying all their electrical wiring, stalling their engines, and setting them adrift. A raging battle between the Coast Guard and police boats against the terrorists ensues, after the enemy is defeated, the Coast Guard boards their boats and finds “dirty” bombs inside the cabins.
After the incidents in Texas and California, The president, The Treasury Department (who funds the Coast Guard), and the head of Homeland Security develop a new plan for the protection of U.S. ports. They decide the project should be diverted to a new and independent corporation, which would contract with the U.S. government to manage the project and avoid bureaucratic intervention. They set about to find someone to run the new company. That same day, Andre Petrov receives an offer from American Security to buy South Coast Alarm. The offer is twice what he feels his company is worth, and he accepts. Andre informs Commander Mike Greer about the acquisition and about his prospective retirement, and Mike convinces Andre to run the new corporation.
Andre forms Ocean Reconnaissance Commission and Associates (O.R.C.A.), whose mission is to protect the coasts and harbors of the U.S. and countries of the free world using their technically advanced boats and specialized crews to fight terrorism, drug trafficking, and environmental issues.
Andre and Mike, the first two directors of O.R.C.A., put together a specialized team of operatives and technicians. Raitreef “Reef” Johansson, a retired Navy SEAL, becomes Head of Field Operations and Commander of the fleet of ORCA boats. Alexis Mikos, retired from the Greek Secret Service and Head of Security for the 1994 Olympics, is appointed Head of Mediterranean and Middle East Field and Boat operations.
A wealthy Iranian shipping magnate and mullah, Rashid Assad, and former North Korean Admiral Kim Su Hon, a sworn enemy of the United States and its allies, flex their terrorist muscles by ordering a series of coordinated attacks against the U.S. and its allies. The attacks occur at fifteen-minute intervals in a two-hour period and are perfectly executed, killing thousands of innocent people. Together, Reef and Alexis, using O.R.C.A.’s cutting-edge computer technology and communication systems, begin to investigate the terrorists’ plot. Gathered intelligence points to the coast of North Korea as a possible base of operations for the terrorists.
Reef and Alexis’s first assignment is to infiltrate the North Korean operation. They discover that the Pyongyang government has produced nuclear warheads and cruise missiles, which are now in Kim Su Hon’s possession and are to be loaded into the silos of his own nuclear submarine purchased from the Russians. His target―the United States! Reef and Alexis successfully penetrate the submarine base but are captured by Admiral Hon’s son, Commander Coy Ye Hon. With the help of some friendly North Korean rebels, they manage to escape and race around the globe attempting to stay alive and one step ahead of the Iranian/North Korean terrorist conspiracy hatched and financed by Rashid Assad and Kim Su Hon thirty years earlier.
O.R.C.A. joins forces with the U.S. intelligence community, Homeland Security, the Pentagon, and the president. Together they go into a full offensive drive to stop the terrorist plans, which include giant freighters that covertly transport Russian Akula-class submarines, and land-based terrorist cells within the United States. The terrorists attack U.S. cities with dirty bombs and one nuclear warhead. Thousands are killed. North Korea declares war on the United States. The U.S. declares war on Iran.
If not for the O.R.C.A. team and their powerful ORCA boats to save the day, the United States faces destruction beyond imagination. The conflict leads to a dramatic showdown when Reef and Alexis race to stop the escape of Rashid, Kim Su, and the leaders of the world’s terrorist groups. Reef kills Rashid Assad, and Kim Su Hon, despondent as a result of his failure, commits suicide. However, their heirs, Col Ye Hon and Jafar Assad, secure an agreement with a poor African nation to set up a new base of operations and continue their quest for Creating Madness.
