One Noble Journey Dixie Phillips has delivered another delightful tale in One Noble Journey. Two cultures collide in the tiny village of Westbury. An orphan girl from the lowlands, the daughter of a Count from the highlands and a baby raccoon will entertain the hearts of children of all ages. One Noble Journey is guaranteed to help shape small souls. Artist Kim Sponaugle. This award winning duo, Dixie and Kim, teamed up again to produce another winner. “Stubby’s Destiny” won the Literary Award for Excellence Best of 2008 in the Children’s Animal Story category. Suggested age for readers 3-10
One Noble Journey is a beautiful story of two little girls from different worlds who desperately want to be friends but because one is an orphan and poor the father of the other doesn’t want them to play together. A twist comes in the story and all soon come to realize that “The ground is level at the foot of the cross.”
I really enjoyed this story and the message it brings and think it is a wonderful message for children to learn and understand.

Is it possible for a girl from a rich family to be
friends with an orphan girl who lives in the poor section of town? The village
of Westbury has two sides. The rich live in the highlands, and the poor live in
the lowlands. Bella is a girl from the wealthy family of Count Billingsley, but
she likes to play with Journey who lives in Hannah’s Hope home for orphans run
by Parson Nelson. One day, when Bella and Journey are walking through the field
to pick wildflowers, they find a motherless baby raccoon which they name Bandit.
Shortly afterwards, the Count’s coach comes by and he orders Bella not to play
with Journey, so Bella tearfully goes home with Bandit hidden in a basket of
flowers.
Very early the next morning, the Count pounds on the orphanage
door and accuses Journey of stealing his gold pocket watch, but Journey denies
it. Then they all learn that Bella is missing and also see that a fierce storm
is brewing. Will they find Bella? And what did happen to the Count’s watch? This
book, lusciously accompanied with colorful illustrations by Kim Sponaugle, is a
lovely story about kindness, friendship, and forgiveness. One of author Dixie
Phillips’s previous books, Stubby’s Destiny, which I had the privilege of
reviewing for Stories for Children Magazine, won The Award for Literary
Excellence from Books&Authors.net in the Best Children’s Animal Story
category for 2008. One Noble Journey is another wonderful story that children
will enjoy.
