Two Paths Crossing: Then and Now

On July 1, 2011, in Historical Literature - Fiction, by John D Swisher

We follow Atys, a Lydian slave from 560 BC, as he struggles with a chest of solid gold coins while climbing up the treacherous trail leading to the Delphi Oracle. He is one among hundreds of slaves and soldiers involved in delivering a great treasure. We also follow James, an insurance salesman from Scranton, PA, as he travels to Greece to take charge of his grandfather’s estate. James forms a partnership with Angela, his real estate agent, and they have to face their fears to unravel a mysterious message found in the crumbling basement of James’ grandfather’s house.

This historic novel is based on a real treasure sent to the Delphi Oracle. King Croesus of Lydia tested oracles around the Mediterranean and determined that the Oracles at Delphi, Greece were the best. He sent five tons of gold and silver as a gift to ask the Oracle if he should go to war with Lydia. This is the first in a series of novels based on real treasures and how they might affect the lives of contemporary fictional characters. Every effort was made to make the history accurate but the contemporary components are simply fiction.
