Hap Lynch and his sidekick – a bichon puppy, Luke – help solve a murder in the South Padre Island area. After solving his first murder in Branson, MO, Hap heads to south Texas for the winter. When a dead body is discovered, Hap’s neighbor, Detective Rachel Vasquez, is assigned to investigate. She asks Hap, a retired cop, to help her. Their investigation leads them into the world of birding and wildlife refuges.
