It’s tough enough defending an innocent person, but attorney Peter Sharp’s new client presents a special challenge because:
a) He’s a suspended cop with a reputation for disliking people of color;
b) He was arrested with a gun in his hand, standing over the victim, a man of color;
c) He was recently seen arguing with the victim;
d) He and the victim were the only two people found at the scene of the crime; and,
e) The District attorney has established that the defendant’s gun was in fact the murder weapon.
Peter can think of no defense for this client, who has insisted that he will not accept a plea deal and demands that the case be taken all the way to trial, giving Peter the ‘sinking’ feeling that every attorney gets when forced into a criminal jury trial with absolutely no defense plan… until Peter’s legal ward Suzi, an adorable 13-year old Chinese computer whiz, figures out a way that might get the client acquitted: but she plans on presenting that defense in person, against Peter’s wishes.
You’ll sit on the edge of your seat like Peter and the other adults in this story, while everyone tries to match wits with Suzi, a precocious13-year genius.
There’s no doubt about it: a new detective is in town, and aside from the fact that she’s less than 4 feet tall, she’s making a big splash with local law enforcement agencies, who are starting to request her help in solving some tough cases.
